There were many fantastic and fun series in 2022, but now 2023 is here and we need to look to the future. So, what will be the best series debuting this year to watch?
The golden age of television may have waned a bit, but there is a plethora of well-made, engaging shows. Looking ahead to 2023, streaming services show no signs of slowing down, bringing viewers new seasons of beloved shows, but also new series that you must watch. Check out!
1. White House Plumbers
White House Plumbers follows Ronald Reagan’s agents E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy, who were part of the title unit created to prevent leaks to the media and were behind Watergate. The HBO series will premiere in March 2023 and will star Woody Harrelson as Hunt, Justin Theroux as Liddy. Plus Domhnall Gleeson, Lena Headey from Game of Thrones , as well as Kiernan Shipka.
2. Masters of the Air

Clare, whose writing career is on the wane, becomes an advice columnist and it affects her life far more than she ever imagined. Tiny Beautiful Things will air in the US on Hulu and will debut on the streaming service in the second quarter of 2023.
4. The Palace
After starring in Mare of Easttown , Kate Winslet returns to HBO in The Palace , set inside a palace over the course of a year during the deterioration of an authoritarian regime. Not much is known about the plot of the HBO miniseries , but Winslet will be joined by Hugh Grant. A release date for The Palace has not yet been announced , but it is known that it will debut on HBO in 2023.
Created by brothers Russo and Patrick Moran, Citadel is an experimental spy thriller that will have a few spin-offs set in the same universe and featuring different countries, including India and Mexico.
The Prime Video series will follow Citadel agents Mason Kane ( Game of Thrones star Richard Madden) and Nadia Singh (Priyanka Chopra), but plot details are being kept under wraps. The attraction will debut sometime in 2023.
Starring How I Met Your Mother ‘s Jason Segel , Shrinking follows Jimmy Johns, a pain-dealing therapist who decides to tell his patients what he really thinks about them and their problems. Shrinking also stars Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams. The series will premiere on Apple TV+ on January 27, 2023.
7. Daisy Jones and the Six
Based on the book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones and the Six is a documentary-style series that follows a fictional rock band in the 1970s, their rise to fame, and their eventual breakup. Starring Riley Keough, Camila Morrone, Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse, Daisy Jones and the Six consists of ten episodes and will premiere on Prime Video on March 3, 2023.
First introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , Riri Williams, a 19-year-old MIT student and technology inventor à la Princess Shuri, is getting her own series called Ironheart .
The Disney+ series will likely be set after Riri’s return from Wakanda, though specific plot details are still unknown. Ironheart will consist of six episodes and also co-stars Anthony Ramos. The series will debut on Disney+ in the second half of 2023.
9. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
Before Queen Charlotte announced “the Diamond” of the Bridgerton social season , she was a young woman who fell in love with King George. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is the prequel to the popular Netflix series, following the title character as she rises to power and how her marriage to King George created change and upheaval in high society.
The series consists of eight episodes and will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2023. Golda Rosheuvel will reprise her role as Queen Charlotte, with India Amarteifio playing the younger version of the character.
10. The Three-Body Problem
The Three-Body Problem , the highly anticipated Netflix series, is based on the popular trilogy by Chinese author Cixin Liu. Developed for television byof Thrones showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss alongside Alexander Woo, The Three-Body Problem follows humanity’s first contact with an alien civilization.
All this while focusing on the smaller effects of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and its impact on the bigger picture. The series, which debuts on Netflix in 2023, will star Benedict Wong, Eiza González, John Bradley, Tsai Chin, as well as Jovan Adepo de Babylon .
11. Poker face
Rian Johnson is a murder mystery aficionado. With Knives Out and its sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery , the writer-director has created Poker Face , a ten-episode mystery series that will premiere on Peacock in the US on January 26th.
In what could be one of the best series in 2023, the highly anticipated Poker Face follows Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne, of Orange is the New Black and Russian Doll ), who always knows when someone is lying to her.
The crime series will tackle a new mystery each episode as Charlie travels from place to place solving crimes. Johnson will direct and write a few episodes, and Lyonne will do the same in addition to starring. The series also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Adrien Brody.
First introduced in the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars , Ahsoka Tano, once Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Padawan, is finally getting her own live-action series on Disney+. Portrayed by Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka made her live-action debut in Season 2 of The Mandalorian . And on top of that, she appeared in Season 1 of The Book of Boba Fett .
Ahsoka is set in the same timeline as The Mandalorian , though it’s still under wraps. The series will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
13. Agatha: Coven of Chaos
One of the highlights of WandaVision was the inclusion of Agatha Harkness, a witch who possessed the Darkhold, a powerful book of magic. Although Wanda Maximoff trapped Agatha in Westview at the end of WandaVision , Agatha: Coven of Chaos will see Kathryn Hahn reprise the role in the spin-off series – this promises to be one of the best series of 2023.
Hahn will be joined by Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke and others. The premiere, therefore, is scheduled for the first half of 2023.
14. The Last of Us
Based on the popular video game of the same name, The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic drama coming to HBO on January 15th. The series was created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, and features Pedro Pascal as Joel.
The character is a smuggler who crosses an infection-ravaged United States to deliver Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a teenager immune to the Cordyceps brain infection, to a laboratory in hopes of creating a vaccine.
15. Gen V
Gen V is a spin-off of The Boys , just one of the best series on Prime Video. The drama follows a group of college-aged Supes who attend the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, which is owned by Vought Internationa.
The students, however, must compete for the best Supe contracts, and the series will have a Hunger Games -style college tone . Among the stars are Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Sean Patrick Thomas, as well as Chance Perdomo. Gen V will premiere in 2023, ahead of The Boys’ fourth season.
