The BAFTA revealed this Tuesday (17) the 2023 nominees for the EE Rising Star Award, dedicated to the biggest revelations of the year in global cinema. This is the only BAFTA award voted on by the public.
Among the nominees are two actresses from Sex Education, a successful series on Netflix: Emma Mackey, Maeve, and Aimee Lou Wood, who shares her name with the character. They compete, respectively, for their work on Emily and Living.
Also nominated were Naomi Ackie (Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody), Sheila Atim (A Mulher Rei), and Daryl McCormack (Good Luck, Big Leo).
This will be the 18th edition of the EE Rising Star Award, which has already included stars such as Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Tom Holland, John Boyega, James McAvoy and Tom Hardy, among others.
The BAFTA, the main British film awards, will reveal its nominees this Thursday (19). The award ceremony for their statuettes will take place on February 19.
