Outer Banks, season 3: all about it and premiere forecast

Created by Shannon Burke, Jonas Pate and Josh Pate, Outer Banks is a teen mystery drama series that tells the story of a group of friends who live on the eponymous barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina, USA.

Their leader, John B, learns that his father has found the location of the legendary sunken ship, the Royal Merchant, before its mysterious disappearance. He and his friends set out in search of the ship and the gold it was said to have been carrying at the time of the sinking.

Since its premiere on April 15, 2020, the series has garnered significant popularity for its masterful exploration of themes such as friendship, love, adventures… as well as economic disparity, greed and, moreover, obsession.

With two seasons in the catalogue, fans want to know more about the continuation. So will there be an Outer Banks season 3 ?

Outer Banks season 3 renewal and premiere date

Good news, Pogues! Season 3 of Outer Banks gained confirmation in December 2021 through an official Netflix announcement.

In a video posted to Twitter, the show’s cast appeared, applauding, to say, “All the way from Poguelandia, season three baby!”

The renewal came more than five months after the second season premiered. In 2022, TVGuide confirmed that recording for the second season began on February 28.

Now Netflix has confirmed that Season 3 of Outer Banks will premiere on February 23, 2023.

Cast: Who’s Back?

In the second season of Outer Banks , Chase Stokes stars as John B, Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron, Jonathan Daviss as Papa, Madison Bailey as Kiara, and Rudy Pankow as JJ. Also, Charles Esten as Ward Cameron, Drew Starkey as Rafe Cameron, Carlacia Grant as Cleo, Elizabeth Mitchell as Limbrey, Caroline Arapoglou as Rose Cameron, Julia Antonelli as Wheezie Cameron, Cullen Moss as Sheriff Shoupe, among others.

Season 3 cast news

In 2022, Netflix also made some announcements of addition to the cast of Outer Banks Season 3.

Andy McQueen (Mrs. Davis, Station Eleven), Fiona Palomo (Control Z, La Negotiator) and Lou Ferrigno Jr (SWAT, Stargirl) are the new faces of the series. (via Deadline )

McQueen will play Carlos Singh, a Caribbean Don who is smart, refined and ruthless, and is on a treasure hunt of his own.

Palomo will play Sofia, who identifies as a Pogue but secretly yearns to join the country club crowd. Friendly and disconnected, she begins to form a close connection with Rafe (Drew Starkey).

Ferrigno will play Ryan. Calm and collected, but young and hungry, he is Singh’s top security officer and enforcer. He’s done enough work to keep a cool head, but he also knows what can happen if he fails.

Spoilers: What’s next for Outer Banks Season 3 ?

Throughout the series, Sarah and John B continued their search for the treasure, reuniting with the rest of the Pogues in Charlotte. The gang managed to avoid Ward, Rafe, and newcomer Carla (the threat of murder is never far from this group!)

The Pogues had lost their newly acquired gold cross to – yup, you guessed it – Sarah’s family, the Camerons, during a dramatic showdown on a cargo ship. Narrowly escaping death (again), the gang jumped ship (literally) only to end up on a deserted island.

At the end of season 2, John and his friends lost the gold, as well as the Cross of Santo Domingo, to Rafe and Ward. After escaping their enemies, the group finds themselves on a seemingly deserted Caribbean island. In this way, despite the circumstances, the group of young adventurers continues to maintain their hope. Meanwhile, Kiara and Pope’s parents believe their children are missing and the police start looking for them.

Rafe promises a physically and emotionally broken Ward that he will find Sarah. So season two ends with a big reveal: Big John is still alive! He agrees to give Limbrey the location of the Savior’s garment in exchange for her helping his son.

In Season 3, the island where John and his friends are stranded could turn out to be the same island the Cameron family is heading to. When Rafe returns to the Outer Banks , he may target Barry, for betraying him.

Meanwhile, Big John and Limbrey can work together to take down Ward and Rafe. Topper can finally afford to move on. And the group of friends might uncover a new mystery associated with the Royal Merchant.

Here’s hoping this hunt continues into a third season, should we get one.

Fans have also been wondering whether or not John B will get this reunion with his clearly breathing father, and Pate has answered the question: Yes!

Pate told Entertainment Weekly: “John B’s relationship with his father is a huge topic. To get his father back and eventually they will meet again and John B has to reconcile his idealized version of his dead father with the reality of his living father.”

Certainly, many emotions await fans.

As soon as Netflix confirms more news, we will update this article.

The Outer Banks Success

Outer Banks is a coming-of-age story that follows a close-knit group of local teenagers (the “Pogues”) at the beach vacation destination of Outer Banks, North Carolina. After their near-deadly escape, Season 2 finds John B (Chase Stokes) and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) on the run – and losing their minds – in the Bahamas.

New friends also bring new enemies when they’re back on the gold trail, as the stakes for Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and JJ (Rudy Pankow) rise at home. The $400 million is still on the line, but will the discovery of a newly discovered secret bring the group together for a new mission? The adventure of a lifetime awaits them, but the uncharted waters ahead mean they must do everything they can to make it out alive.
