Ozark star Jason Bateman to direct film about Pinkerton Detective Agency

Spectators are waiting for a mystical western about revenge. Ozark star Jason Bateman has been eyeing material for his next feature-length directorial project for a long time and is now very close to the goal. According to Deadline, the filmmaker plans to team up with Warner Bros. and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot company for the filming of the promising Pinkerton film.

The details of the upcoming picture are still carefully hidden, but in terms of genre it is positioned as a mystical western about revenge. It’s worth noting that this is the first joint original project between Warner and Bad Robot under a multi-million dollar content creation deal. The script was purchased back in 2020 from Furious 9 writer Daniel Casey.

The Pinkertons is a private detective agency founded in 1850 by Allan Pinkerton. The latter became famous for thwarting a plot to assassinate the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Later, the politician used his agents for personal protection during the Civil War.

For Bateman, Pinkerton will be the third full-length project as a director after the black comedy Bad Words and the detective dramedy The Fang Family . On television, Bateman has repeatedly filmed episodes of series with his participation, and in 2019 he was awarded an Emmy Award for directing one of the Ozark series.
