Police kill suspected kidnapper, rescue victim In Ogun

The Police in Ogun State have rescued a kidnap victim after neutralising one of the suspected kidnappers in a bush at Odeda Local Government Area.

The victim, a tipper driver, was kidnapped by a group of suspected herdsmen.

The suspected kidnapper was shot dead on Friday in Mologede area of Odeda Local Government after a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Bode Olude Divisional Headquarters around 12 noon.

Ogun Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, explained the DPO of Bode Olude division, Durojaye Rotimi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP), mobilised his team, local hunters, men of So – Safe Corps as well as policemen from the adjoining Police Stations and invaded the area.

Abimbola, a Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP), said while combing the bush, they sighted the kidnappers in the forest who engaged them in gun battle.

According to him, one of the kidnappers was shot on the leg while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot injuries.

The victim was rescued unhurt but the suspected abductor died on the way to hospital.

One single barrel gun was recovered from the suspects.

Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, commended his men for their gallantry and ordered a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.

He also applauded the support to the Force by men of So – Safe Corps, Hunters and OPC, asking for its continuation.
