Slimcase: There is no excuse for failure

By Sampson Unamka

RAVE singer Oluwafemi ‘Slimcase’ Oladapo has said there’s no excuse for failure as a music act in Nigeria, hence, his continued evolvement as a performing musician.

In a recent chat with fans, he said, “Not everything is music, sometimes you have to sit down and be creative with your content, you need to read more books, watch more movies, do more sport, engage in a lot of things you know so that you can fit in. There is no excuse for failure, you have to stay relevant, you have to do what you have to do to stay on people’s faces.”

Continuing, Slimcase said, “It is not about time, when you lose creativity then it looks like nobody is listening to you. No, you have to try different things, don’t stop, keep pushing. You need to be updating your IOS even Instagram updates. Don’t drop like 500 songs in a year and none of the songs is a hit, try new things because we are in a country where people get tired of sound, get out of the studio, create a cruise when you do that and you’re back on top then you can drop music.” he said.

The hype-man-turned musician further said, “Do what you have to do, stand-alone and create a legacy for yourself my nigga, so that when you die people can remember you for something but when you lose focus you start hanging around everybody.”

Slimcase expressed contentment on the recent success of his rap battle show named ‘Slimcaseshow’.

The show began in April 2021 to support upcoming underground rappers in the industry using his massive follower-ship of over 2 million followers on Instagram as a platform to promote their craft.

The show has hosted rappers such as CDQ, Chinko Ekun, Black Camaru, Dandizzy, Magnito, Oladips, Sugarbana, Blaqbonez, Dremo, Sina Rambo, Efe money, Charles Okocha, and Ugoccie.
