Young musicians have no regard for elders – Alariwo of Africa

By Sampson Unamka

Afrobeat singer cum broadcaster, Rotimi Martins, aka Alariwo of Africa has frowned at the attitude of new generation musicians.

He alleged all they are after is money and not the passion for the art.

He made this known recently on an Instagram live chat show tagged #Gatekeeperseries with Weird Mc and Bunmi Sanya-Farayola.

Alariwo of Africa said: “I like this concept of celebrating people that have been there before people. We have paid our dues and we are no fools, so we need to be celebrated and not tolerated.

“I go to where I am celebrated, we need to be celebrated, we have paid our dues. We were doing it for the love, not the monetary gain, I remember back then how much were we collecting for a show? We were doing it for the love, we were doing it for the passion”.

He added: “I remember back then when a lot of people were saying who is Alariwo of Africa? Only three people stood by me, Weird Mc, Bunmi and Ricka T. So we should appreciate and give God the glory that we are still here, relevant and we are still everywhere.”
