Harry Potter: the star believes that the franchise is becoming a ‘religion’

Harry Potter graduate Timothy Spall recognizes the power of the franchise’s fandom and believes it is becoming a religion.

Of course, fans of the franchise know Spall well from his role as Peter Pettigrew, aka Tailspin, in the Harry Potter films. The series of films ended in 2011 with the second part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but soon the franchise will be relaunched as an episodic series. The franchise remains extremely popular among its fans, and during a recent interview with Variety, Spall admits that he finds it all strange.

Harry Potter is still so important. It is on the verge of becoming a religion. It’s strange, Spall said, later sharing memories of how difficult the process of making these films was. He said: It’s a beautiful story, but it was also beautifully done. One day I wandered into the studio, and there someone was [manually] putting leaves on a tree, one by one. This is dedication. They did it for the public.

Based on this, Spall noted that the idea behind so many efforts with these films was to better make sure that the audience is happy, which he has become better understood with age. We have to do everything we can to make sure they get the most out of the money spent. Actors, writers, we do it because we like it, because we have this compulsion. But as I get older, I’m well aware that you’re asking someone to put their hand in their pocket and take out the money they’ve earned by the sweat of their brow.

The Harry Potter franchise continues

The series based on Harry Potter is in the early stages of development, but it is planned that the book will serve as a source of inspiration for each season. This is something that fans are very excited about, since there can be many more scenes from the source material than from a full-length film. There is also always the possibility that a new film about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child could be made, potentially uniting the actors of the films, although at the moment there are no clear plans for this to happen.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Harry Potter series doesn’t have a premiere date yet.
